- Luke’s Wolfe Creek blog in August was so entertaining that we asked him to put pen to paper again on his next journey. Turns out, we didn’t have to wait long. Luke’s journal continues …
So 10 days ago I got a message saying:
“We are organising a trip to recover some meteorites that have fallen in South Australia.”
I, of course, jumped to attention “Sir! Yes Sir! Very keen Sir!”
Now, I had thought that the trip wouldn’t be until sometime next month maybe at the earliest … How wrong I was.
“Drop everything! You’re going next Friday” (message received the Friday before). That changed to departing on Thursday (on Tuesday) and here we are!
Me and Martin drew the short straw and are driving to Port Augusta where the rest of the team will meet us in a weeks’ time after their nice relaxing journey with the flying kangaroo! Martin and I meanwhile will be slogging across the Nullarbor, with all the gear for 7 people in one Hilux which is full to bursting and has inverted leaf springs.
